Kmart's holiday outreach programs included:
- Kmart became the national retail sponsor of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign in 2001. In addition to making a $25,000 donation, Kmart stores establish in-store toy collection sites and could spend their holiday community giving budgets to purchase items for the campaign.
- Kmart stores also had the option of hosting their traditional needy children's shopping spree. Stores invite underprivileged children sponsored by local civic groups to buy gifts for loved ones and have breakfast with Santa. Kmart Community Volunteers help the young shoppers stay within the budget provided by Kmart.
- The Salvation Army - Kmart stores allow the Salvation Army's annual Christmas Kettle volunteers to staff donation kettles during regular store hours during the holiday season.
