POSITION SUMMARY
If you are considering a career in Logistics or Distribution Center Management, then our Logistics Internship Program may be the smartest choice you can make. Our diverse distribution network is responsible for warehousing and transporting goods from home appliances, health & beauty products to the clothing you see displayed in our stores, to the right locations at the right times. You will get hands-on experience right where the action is – the distribution center. This 12-week assignment is designed to give you a feel for the logistics/distribution industry and the culture of Sears Holdings Corporation.

QUALIFICATIONS  >>

  • Junior status required
  • All majors considered, degree in Logistics/Supply Chain Management or related major preferred
  • Dedication to customer service
  • Team building skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Permanent Employment Authorization/U.S. Citizenship

RESPONSIBILITIES  >>

Our management interns spend their 12-week session working in one of our distribution centers learning and participating first-hand in the daily operations of a DC. You will work directly with DC supervisors and managers to develop your knowledge of the business requirements and your leadership skills. You will rotate through the various operational departments including shipping, receiving, orderfilling, loss prevention, human resources and other support areas to get a broad view of the logistics/distribution industry. Your training will include formal and informal evaluations and will culminate in a presentation to DC management on the learnings and insights gained over the 12-week session.

POTENTIAL CAREER PATH  >>

Successful completion of your internship may lead to full-time employment after graduation in our individually tailored Logistics Management Training Program. The Logistics Management Training Program has rigorous standards that require your hard work and dedication. It is a 15-24 month rotational program that will coach you on the intricacies of running our business while preparing you to become one of our future leaders. After you complete your training, you will be assigned to your first management position in one of our field locations. Below is a path of various opportunities available internally within our DCs.

Functional Area Supervisor > Functional Area Manager > Operations Manager > Assistant General Manager > General Manager

PAST PROJECT WORK COMPLETED  >>

  • Re-profile the non-conveyable area in order to increase productivity
  • Evaluate the return on investment for developing a new process as opposed to operating with the current process that is in place for a specific department
  • Create a training matrix that tracks safety and facility requirements for new associates
